Minsk (Минск)

Minsk (Belarusian: Мінск, Russian: Минск) is the capital and the largest city of Belarus, located on the Svislach river. Through the ages, it was a part if Principalities of Minsk and Polotsk, Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Poland, Russian Empire and Soviet Union.

City was heavily damaged in the WWII with almost 80% of housing destroyed, as a result city center was rebuild almost completely after the war and showcases prevalent Stalinist architecture, with grand buildings, broad avenues and wide squares, though some pockets of older buildings remain or were restored from photographs and other records.


Минск — столица и крупнейший город Беларуси, расположенный недалеко от географического центра страны на реке Свислочи, впервые упоминается в "Повести временных лет" в записи о 1067 годе.
